Word Radicals works without an app account. Dictionary lookup and study work offline. Optional iCloud sync uses your Apple account to share saved words and learning progress between your devices.
So we can tell which parts of the app are worth improving, Word Radicals counts how often each feature is used — “a paradigm drill was started”, “the Study tab was opened” — and sends those daily totals to our own server.
A count per feature per day is the whole of it. There is no name, no account, no device or advertising identifier; every copy of the app adds into the same totals, and nothing on the receiving end can tell one person's counts from another's. The words you search for, save, or study are not included in feature-count payloads.
The totals go to Sola Lumina's first-party service, not an advertising service. Offline, the counts wait until the app can send them.
To improve the dictionary, the app periodically sends settled searches that found no match, their language filter, and occurrence counts to Sola Lumina's server. These reports have no app account or device identifier. Messages you choose to send through Feedback go directly to Sola Lumina's Consider API, not through email. The request includes your message, selected feedback type, and app name, version, and build. Build 18 and later do not request an email address. Older versions may include an optional reply address if you choose to enter one. Include only information you want to share.
Saved words, flashcard scheduling, and paradigm practice are saved on your device first. Sync is off by default. If you enable it in About, the app sends those records to Apple's iCloud service for your Apple account. Sola Lumina's analytics server does not receive that sync copy.
Search history, reminders, and active lessons stay on the device. Turning sync off stops future app updates to iCloud and keeps your local data. Disabling sync or deleting the app does not erase an existing iCloud copy. If the Apple account changes, sync pauses until you enable it again.
The app does not request a learner's age or require a learner account. The features and data practices described above apply to all users.
